Putrajaya International Marathon 2006

10 September 2006

~ Pacco was used as a model to parade the medal I obtained because it looks nice on a black background ~

This is my first time joining a run. Previously I signed up for run but didn't happen to show up. I was inspired to join in this year and seriously wanted to get qualify after I trained myself daily for last month Dogathon event. My dad came along with my to enjoy the race itself. The bus that we board left PJ at 5.00 am. We reach the destination at 5.55 am and able to witness the start of the full 42 km marathon runners starting off the race. There were some foreigners from Kenya, Ghana, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and China. While there was a total of 6,000 participants for a event.

The 7 km run only start at 7.45 am. While I reach the finishing line it took me approximately 50 minutes, I was so happy that I got 119th placing for the 7 km Women Open category. So I manage to get myself a Top 300 finisher medal and a certificate of completion too. But what embarrassed me most it that my dad reach 3 minutes earlier than me. I wonder where should I hide my face.

The recovery area. Most of the marathon runners seem hardly could walk properly after they had completed the 42k run.

WOW. well done Pacco, I mean, Amanda. I've often wanted to do something like this but never got my lazy arse around to doing it. I mean, I often run 3-5 Km at the gym no sweat but it's a lot harder running outdoors in the heat and humidity. I can't run in the humidity in Singapore. It kills me. Maybe I can do a 7km but a 42km?? I think it might take months or even half a year to train up.
Once again, well done!!
