Rehab

I’m now undergoing rehabilitation. Is definitely not going to be a nice experience. She had restricted my free access to the garden because most of the time I’m so engage in playing with the froggies till I often ignore her calling. She will be getting a 50ft dragline for me to be use at the training ground. Absolutely no more idiotic zoomie will be tolerate, or else either she will break my neck off or her own. Only one is allow to survive.

~ I'm suffocating ~

I tried my best to talk her off, but she looks so determined. Tonight I was even staying out of sight with a camera on me while she was in the loo. She’s getting insane to think that I’m capable of fooling around and then return to the original position.

The purple dumbell is so heavy, I guess approximately 50lbs. I desperately in need of jaw massage. She looking forward to purchase a new red dumbell for me, it will look striking. Vrooommm.... made me think of Ferrari.

By the way, we have received the Dogathon 2008 pamphlet through mail. Surprisingly there were three, so much for cost conservation. She had not been running or jogging for more than 6 months, only weekly hiking. I would advise her to do her part to train up herself, while I take a peaceful nap in my cold steel cage.

Blue Mood

~ Time to act innocent ~

We have came home from our disaster weekend at Penang. If she can foresee the future, we wouldn’t have went for the trip because is costly. Maybe when we were facing transportation problem earlier on, is a hint that we shouldn’t be going. But every trial, no matter what the outcome, that lots to learn from. Thanks to my helpful friends who made the trip possible for us.

Group stay exercise is always the thing we fear most. The 2 minutes stay feels like eternity. When the handlers were ordered to return to their dogs, seeing me still maintaining my position, she was on cloud nine. But just a fraction of seconds before the steward announce ‘exercise finish’, I stood from down to a sit. The thoughtful me had earned NQ.

~ My first offleash heeling in the ring ~

We have learnt not to take things for granted. When my stinky rope and chicken meat were not available at our disposal, we screwed up so badly. I barely acknowledge her presence throughout the weekend. Getting eliminated for agility is not something new to me, we have pretty much expected it coming. But not even looking at her at the starting line and burst into zoomie, really cause her to have a mental breakdown.

~ At least I did something to get this decent picture ~

To say she was just upset is an understatement. On the first night, she thought of retiring me. But after a good sleep, she thought it would be silly to give up. Not running off the ring during the offleash heeling, passing the recall and stand stay are some of the good sign. She will be seeking professional help to curb my chronic runaway and reliability issue. Meanwhile, we will be putting all agility run on hold until further notice and shift our focus to obedience.

Overcome Spitting Syndrome

She said we can't afford to lay all our chips on agility anymore. If I didn't made any progress after years of agility, is time to redirect our focus on something else. I don't think getting a qualifying score for Pre-Novice and Novice Obedience will be much of a problem. No running in the ring that will trigger me to go berserk. The exercise we fear most is 'stay'. But that we will resort to more proofing, then cross our paws and pray.

Nonetheless, overdose of heeling and stay for Novice can really make me a dull girl. Why not stimulate your mind with some of the Intermediate and Open exercise. We started off with retrieve, not retrieve and spit, but retrieve and hold to show your respect. But why dumbell? I can understand we heel on left, because hunter on field carry their gun on right, and when we walk oppose to traffic, we are suppose to be on the left. 'Out of sight stay' are meant for dogs who used to stay outside the store, while their owner went in shopping for grocery. Anyway people are fear of dognapping currently. But dumbell? I can't reason it. A plush duck might be more reasonable. Okay, I'm saying this because I'm just a poor bugger who still can't retrieve a dumbell.

While being stuck with the retrieving part, we proceed on how to complete the retrieving exercise. Mastering the 'hold'. This is what we call 'backchaining' method. I have a major item spitting syndrome. Whatever I fetch, I will spit on her feet and trained her to pick it up. This behaviour really doesn't contribute much to our dumbell work. It had took me months, with lotsa troubleshooting, especially holding it until its being removed, not to drop it when you see your owner's hand came close to it. Whenever I did that, she redraw her hand, let it drop and indicate to me, I'm screwed. After 2 freaking months, finally a breakthrough. Is not a surprise though, since I need 2 years to learn how to stay for 10 second and another year to stay for 1 minute.

~ Looking dumb is the only expression and I can make out of this situation ~

She decided not to train on tennis balls because when we played flyball, I don't think she had this dicipline of demanding me to 'hold' it.

~ 'Sit and stare' not longer works in my household. They treat me as Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman ~
~ But who can resist this? 'Sit, stare and bowl', the new trend of begging. Food, please....... ~

Last Friday, Ms Owner went for a movie marathon. 3 movies in a day, The Happening, Get Smart and Wanted. Who the jerk who told her that 'The Happening' isn't scary?! It freaked the hell out of her and she ended up only watching 60% of the film, while the remaining she blocked the whole screen with her bag. But 'sci-fi' had been one of her favourite genre. Luckily, there's nothing gore. Get Smart is a forgettable movie, nothing impressive and the worst is, she can't bring herself to laugh. Maybe she was too concentrate test messaging with Ms Sister, discussing how many Euro Cup T-shirt they should purchase at Jusco. They were being sold at 70% discount!

~ The Happening, Wanted and Get Smart ~

'Wanted' was really crazy action movie with all the 'curve bullet' moves that doesn't comply with the law of physics. Angelina Jolie doesn't have an impact on the movie, we wonder why her big gorgeous face was plastered on the poster, suggesting to us that she was the protagonist. Afterall, we got to enjoy some superbly impressive action moves, they even wreck the new version of Viper, which made us weep and there's a twist in the end.

Leggy Problem

I think my hind leggy looks alright. This picture was taken 2 months ago. Is still looks the same as today, but Ms Owner said I'm getting lousy at my landing. She saw me landing awkwardly twice recently when I'm jumping too high up the air to catch whatever there's available to catch. When I'm limping, she felt like fainting. She got paranoid about my high leaping skill and demand me not to perform that silly stunt anymore. No matter how cute people think it is. She will try her best to minimize throwing balls and treats at high angles because I simply won't wait for them to drop, I just jump without knowing my limit.

~ According to the studies, early spaying before puberty cause me to be so 'leggy' and have a lower bone density, no wonder I hardly hit 14kg ~

We find this small table really useful for me to practise the distance control exercise. I won't have the chance to move forward during the interval. But doing 'down' is demanding as I have a too big body to fit.

~ Can't you get me a bigger table? ~

Obedience Weekend

~ What's up with this talking-toy? I want FurMinator! ~

Finally, I had realized why Ms Owner claimed that she can't afford a FurMinator for me. Thanks to Mr Iron Man. She had manage to dry up her purse for this talking-toy, that does nothing beside non-stop saying 'I Am Iron Man' plus some other sound effect.

Last Saturday, my agility mates went for a trip to the waterfall, while I didn't get to go. Ms Owner said I doesn't deserved a holiday. No wonder she even make me skip the charity fair at Brickfields. So instead of having fun doing some tricks and scaring off everybody that approach me, I was drag to train obedience with Scruffy and Ginger.

Seems like my reliability is pretty 'okay' nowadays. At least I don't act deaf when being at a new ground. We did some heelwork both onleash and offleash, figure 8 and plenty of 'stay'. My heelwork was 'okay', beside nearly knocking Ms Owner over during the left turn. 'Stay' was totally unreliable, although I did succeed in a few attempts. Scruffy's owner even suggest me to attempt 'stand stay' for temperament test. Surprisingly, I didn't runaway or snap at her, although I did moved all my 4 paws.

I find it strange that I didn't got to jump anything today. Later, we went to enjoy chicken rice near my housing area. We dogs got to enjoy some chicken liver. Yummy! Hanging out Scruffy and Ginger is indeed rewarding. Next week, we will be back in action for agility, while we will try to improve on high speed entry for weave poles in my backyard.

PAAPP 11th Agility & 4th Obedience Trial

~ 3 mutt representing team from KL. Scruffy, Ginger and me ~

The day started off with the Obedience trial, and by the time I reached the venue, Intermediate class had already begun. This was Scruffy's Intermediate class debut and he nearly nail it with the score of 163, only missing out the retrieve over jump exercise. While Ginger did us proud by beating off Steven Tan's and Max Lee's Golden Retrievers to claim the Obedience Novice Champion award, while Scruffy settled for 3rd place.

~ Scruffy competiting along with the OB big guns ~

~ Ginger claiming top spot for Novice Obedience ~

I had a long day before my run began at 3.00pm. Since no warm up jumps are available, I did some heeling practise and playing rough with my stinky tug. This time the treat was Ms Janice's famous "buttered-chicken-liver"! Anything that isn't commercial works great for me. Slurp.

~ The Fanstastic Duo are set to dominate the OB ring ~

The number of participants was low and some of the registered ones didn't turn up. Groovy's lady boss messaged me some words of encouragement and it really boost up my confidence until it nearly spilled, coupled with our request to Bank's owner, asking him to pray for us that we will win in all 3 class. But the 'blur' him, didn't even realize I was up in Penang, when the rest of the world knows about it.

We started off with the jumper class. It was a totally right handler course if only you want to have a beautiful run. But we choose to go ugly and keep switching side. 1st attempt - off course. 2nd attempt - CLEAN RUN, but I did some wide turning, hence record time 23 second. 1st placing for me.

Qualifying for the Elementary class was our main aim for this trial, although I expect to miss the contact for dog walk. Table wouldn't be much of a problem, since we had been practising table everyday and night for the past 2 weeks, working on every direction and distance. But this time, it was the teeter! 1st attempt: Standing in the middle of the teeter without tilting it down. Ms Owner made me repeat the teeter several times, but I still bailed off without tilting it. 2nd attempt: Still the same. What a bummer and she was got real pissed off. We were in such high confidence that we will definately get it this time. Argg!! Ms Owner feels like throwing me down the Penang bridge and let me swim back to KL.

~ Getting some decent rest in between runs ~

Final run, the Gambler Test I. The gambler sequence was hurdle, hurdle, tyre, hurdle, table. The distance was comfortable for us, but later we notice it had a difficult entry. During the opening sequence, we choose to weave, but I weaved like an old grandma and then I refuse to enter the tunnel. I doesn't seems like my usual self, I never hesitate to enter the open tunnel. But atleast I successfully touch the table this time with Ms Owner giving only 1 cue. Daily practise had made me a table pawfect. Surpringly, 1st placing.

At 7.00pm there was Flyball Mock run. The aim of this mock run was to enable the judge and steward to try out their rules and made any adjustment if necessary. I don't even bring my flyball box along, hence I'm just doing some retrieving work here. The banner was set up in between 2 lanes to ensure the green dogs don't run into each other. Ms Owner predict I will run like an auntie and skip the jumps during the run back. But the outcome was better than expected. During my first 2 runs, Kofi came over to my lane to say 'hi' and ask if he could try out my tennis ball. I got rather paranoid and drop my own ball, but I manage to control myself from snapping innocent dog, and return to Ms Owner. Later, the authority secure the banner from all gaps. Despite all the tiredness, I'm still hitting 7 seconds. Whoopee! But Ms Owner wonder how come I'm not faster at the training ground.

~ I'm analyzing the strange white hurdles ~

By the end of the day, I did not contribute anything to earn points toward the agility title. Nonetheless, the food prizes were bigger than before. We got 7.5kg bag for 1st placing. Archer's owner got pretty anxious and ring me up demanding for results. She's really happy that I didn't let Pet-n-You down, as this time I came as a sole ranger. Ginger's trophy was really beautiful and yet again I'm so tempted to participate in the OB trial. Scruffy came in 2nd for Jumper class and 3rd in Novice obedience, thus he only manage to bag home the food prizes.

~ 1 clean run medal, 2 winner trophies, 2 big packs of food and smiling faces~

Obedience Wannabe

Looking really professional here with my training pals. We looks like representative for some sort of serious training regime. Come join us if you wanna be, a 'jumper' like Pacco, 'obedience-advocate' like Bank and Sissy, a 'smooth weaver' like Angel or a 'speed demon' like Groovy.

Not to forget, Cami the 'Frisbee Lover' right behind there, while I'm on my way to win this 'Fastest Recall' game, with my head looking awkwardly weird.

Ms Owner had purchased the super glue for my ass. We are now doing the preliminary testing to examine its effectiveness. I'm doing a 'down stay' with little Camilia Nugget lurking around tempting me to chase her down.

Is time to stop being envy at others who can 'stay' so perfectly. Me, Pacco de Mongrel, can 'stay' too. All I need is to exert some 'laziness' in me or maybe some alternative remedy, such as .....

~ For a 3 minutes 'down stay', all I need is some sleeping pills ~

Heelwork

Happy Easter Day, everyone. The church near my home cause a massive traffic jam on Easter morning. Grandparents brought back some eggs painted red for me. Yummy! After my agility training, Ms Owner enjoyed the F1 race with the family. This round the race was held in our country, Malaysia at Sepang Circuit. Is was such a shamed that Ms Owner was watching from home. After 1/2 the race remaining, we were pretty confident that Ferrari will secure both the 1st and 2nd placing, but unfortunately Massa spunned off into the gravel during lap 30. What a major heartbreak and Ms Owner nearly suffered cardiac arrest. While, it was a relief Kimi manage to stroll to the chequered flag with 20sec to spare.

~ Mr Felipe, you seemed to be pretty unreliable with your performance. Unrealibilty had been my major issue too ~

Ms Owner was having a break from school today. Since both of us was pretty lazy to practise on weaving, we just settle for doing some heelwork. With less effort, I got equal amount of treats. Whoopee! Below picture simply focus on my sexy and Ms Owner skinny legs. Mind her.

~ First is 'Attention!' (as per what Mr. Chan tends to command). ~

"Right-about-turn"

~ Pretty dressage. Left, right, left, right....... ~

~ Attention Heelwork. Yes, just focus on the palm. There' something yummy in there, which will be release at any second ~

By the end of the session, I had develop a stiff neck injury. Definately in need of a massage therapist. Obedience seems to be fun, when the 'stay' routine is being eliminated.

1st Trip to PetnYou ground

2nd September 2006

This is Pacco 1st trip to the PetnYou ground. It ground was indeed a spacious field, whereby all dogs gotta chance to enjoy offleash run.

Agility tryout is the main aim for our trip to the ground. So basically try out all the equipment except for the collapsed tunnel. I wish that I gotta come everyweek and the day whereby Pacco can complete an offleash run will finally come.

Russell and Groovy doing a 'Stand Stay' exercise?

Pacco trying out the Flyball equipment. But she yet to get the idea of retrieving the ball from the box.

After the exhausting run, even Groovy wanted a rest under the shade.

Before ending the session, we finish off with a 'Down Stay' routine. Pacco emerged as the 1st dog! 1st dog to be eliminated.

Training time for Pacco and Hero

Whenever Pacco and Hero saw me, they will get extremely excited and jumping all around. I feel annoyed when my mum scolded me for my dirty clothes. So I try to wear dark coloured clothes whenever I can. But then my mum will complaint that the dirt aren't visible, so how can she wash it clean. Arg~~~....

Training session for Pacco and Hero officially started today evening. First of all, I had to tied up Hero at the corner while starting off with Pacco. I ordered her to sit and she did manage to understand what I said. Then later I teach her 'hand' and 'high 5'. Also not much problem, so i proceed with down and stay. But she just couldn't stay still and wandered off. Will try again tommorow, so that's all for today.

As for Hero, I had face tough problem to get him sit. He knew the sit command, but he will instantly get his butt off before even reaching 3 seconds. Anyway, I manage to teach him 'hand' and over the hoop. But I don't think that he could jump well, even in the future.

The above picture was taken when I was trying to get both of them sitting beside each other. To you it may looks simple, but actually it takes me lots of effort to do that.

Kinki's Obedience Training.

Obedience, Agility, Flyball, Dog breeder, BARF?? I don't anyone on the street out there would knew those stuff, unless he/she is a dog lover.

The above was those stuff that I learned during my suft thought the seach engine whenever I'm free. So I check up whether are they any dog training centre that I could take part in. I knew that MKA is offering Obedience Training at Padang Merbuk, Petaling Jaya which is very near to where I stayed. But I still need a car to bring Kinki over and my dad was not pleased with that idea.

12th September 2004, Puppy.com is organizing yet another dog training at Taman Desa. Its much farer from my house, but now Kinki had become an important part of the family and my dad couldn't refuse to fetch her there.

Kinki took the Basic Obedience Training and I manage to learn lots of things on how to traing my dog. Formerly I always admire those people who can command their dog to stay quietly when taking pictures. But now, I no longer need to admire them, cause Kinki can also do that now.

But nonetheless Kinki is a stubborn dog. She would never ever sit on a wet floor. It was so unlucky that whenever there are Graduation Test, there would be rain and Kinki perform badly during the test. She was absolutely not in the mood when she knew there is rain.

Anyway, she pass the Canine Good Citizen test because she can heel on-leash quite well, eventhough she failed the down stay.

Kinki receive a CGC medal and a pack of 3kg ProPlan dog food.
