21 July 2007
Two years ago, I became one of the avid fans of Harry Potter. Finishing up all the previous 6 books in two years time. As I was eagerly waiting for the released of the 7th book, was stunned to find out that the lauching had got into an ugly price war between established bookstores and local hypermarket, which nearly sold the book for more than 40% discount. This lead to 4 major bookstore boycotting the sales and only provide it for those who had already made an pre-order deal.
I paid a visit to Mid Valley early in the morning. As expected, MPH bookstore is not selling it and they even remove all the decoration that they had initially put up. Those customers who manage to collect their pre-order was actually reading it on the spot by sitting on the nearby bench! But pity those who didn't watch the news previous night. They would probably show up and then realize 'OH MY GOD!'.
Later I went down to the lower ground floor and observe the situation at Carrefour hypermarket. They are selling it at Rm69.90 only. It was really a great deal. But I prefer to buy from bookstore instead, eventhough it would be more expensive, cause I'll want to get a freebie.
I was told that Kinokuniya at Suria KLCC had a big entrance with Griffyindor decoration as long as a Fat Lady. But when I reach around 12 noon, the entrance had been remove! What a dissapointing day for me. I should had come before dawn. But nonetheless the environment there was great, they even put out the 'Hogwart-like' music.
Finally, here is my copy of Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows. This is the first time I bought the leatherbound hardcover version and also the first time I bought it on the lauching day. The freebie I got was a Ollivander's Original Quill (But I thought Ollivander actually sell wands). I regret that I didn't camp overnight with my friends to experience the real Potter mania, with pushing, yelling and running! (Call me crazy).
It was nice and thick. My parents thought I was actually reading a bible.

My mommy has no interest in reading Harry Potter books infact, not any books! Yeah, she heard about the Harry Potter books being sold cheap at Carrefour. Her bro's gonna buy his there tomorrow infact, they're gonna watch the movie tomorrow morning too! They got the best seats but sadly, we can't come & watch it too. I bet we'll fall a sleep in that freezing room & on those comfy seats, mmmm... Nice!

Number of terrible people.
An English version was put on the market.
A Japanese version is put on the market for about one year later.
It is impatient.

Mommy don't read Harry Potter book, only watch the movies, she's too lazy to read. But mommy's sister bought the book. She say because is cheap. And now, she only started reading few front pages. lol.
That Potter-mania has taken over many people. My mom hasn't read any of them nor watched the movies. She is boring!
glad you got your copy the same day of the release!
