Fetch the Bowl

Remember I told you before that I had Master Degree in Arts majoring in 'Begging'? I decided to further my studies, so I did some research and now I'm on my way to earn myself a PhD. The Degree level of Begging is the easiest part, staring into your owner's eye and tailing them like a shadow for novice. In Master level, you have to possess some neat trick, like 'sit up' or 'stay', that last forever.

Now in order to earn myself the PhD title, I'm on my way to learn the 'fetch d bowl' trick. 1st, I gotta know how to hold the 'bowl'. 2nd, I need to retrieve the bowl to Ms Owner at a near distance. Next, Ms Owner set up designated place to place my bowl, so it will be easier for me to locate it. Location will either be at the front porch or the dining room. The command is 'Bring the bowl'.

Now, during every dinner, I need to successfully bring the bowl over, or else, I wouldn't have my dinner. Ms Owner will hold on to me, whisper to my ears the command 'Bring d bowl' and then she 'sent' me away. I will run a few metres away and then look back at her, looking miserable, not sure what I'm suppose to do. Ms Owner claimed that I suffered from 'short-term-memory syndrome'. When I run, I tends to forget what I'm doing. Sigh. Then she will recall me back and repeat the procedure again. Usually after 3rd attempt, I will successfully bring her the bowl. Current distance is retrieving from the front porch to the dining room, through the verandah.

You are truly a scholar. Foley jumps straight up in the air like a Jack Russell when he wants to eat. He practically knocks over the hobbit that feeds us. I don't think Foley is even out of grade school yet.

if Mom tried this with me I would teach her a trick called, 'step in my poo' that I would leave on the floor next to the bed :)

You smart pup! That's also a good way to "remind" your owner that it's food time! Mommy tried teaching me this before but I look sooo sad when doing it like I'm giving up my life! I'm a Retriever but I hate retrieving.

Love licks,

Have you tried drooling, shaking and - if all else fails - hickup! Naturally, you have to pull your tummy in, pretend you are really starving!

Pacco--you mean you can actually BRING the bowl without chewing it up or destroying it? Wow--that's quite a feat! (Terriers can't fetch something without changing its shape or chemical composition...)

We are quite familiar with "short-term-memory syndrome"--our humans refer to it as "Terrier Attention Absence Disorder" (TAAD) or "Total Goofiness" (TG).

Our hats (if we could wear them without chewing them) are off to you!

Hi Pacco
We wish you A VERY HAPPY BARKDAY TODAY !!! Hope you have a wonderful day full of cake and fun and lots of hugs. Hope your mum doesn't make you bring your bowl too. There's no way we'd do that for our mum.

Harloo Pacco, looks like I have the same green bowl too. My Mama bought it from Ikea but I hardly use it for Dinner. It's my water bowl.

That is the smartest trick I have ever heard of. Man you are good

Crikit, Sparky, Ginger! said...

Hi Pacco I (Crikit) do that too! My command is 'where's your saucer?' or 'get me you saucer' or 'where's your bowl?' it don't matter I know what they mean. I even take it to them whenever I am hungry and if they ignore me I knock it against their leg or set it in thier lap or bang it on the floor till they either fill it or take it away. Sometimes I just carry it everywhere I go till they get the hint I need a snack. My bowl is usually pink but I like your green one too.

Love Licks cutie woo hoo fur black doggies and good trickshuh?!
