New Tug Toy

~ Thank you, Blue for the lovely cover ~

Wondering how I spent my '3rd barkday'? With the evil owner back from school only at 7pm, plus an excuse she's out of budget to buy anything special for me, and out of time to cook anything like previous year (Lame excuse), all I got was an opportunity to pose infront of a cake that doesn't meant for me.

How I wish I can spend my big day in the woods, chasing after flying fox with my flying skills and retrieving ducks for Ms Owner to cook. That's what we call 'paradise'.

By the way, I got myself a new tug toy. Is not exactly 'new' to be precise. Ms Owner bought it 2 years ago, and that time I didn't get the idea of tugging, so she just kept it on the shelves. From what we read in previous years, some trainers came up with an idea of 'not-letting-your-dog-to-win' the tug game to show your superiority over them. But what's the point of playing if I knew I never going to win? I got pretty demotivated to continue and prefer chasing the ball instead.

Our tugging experience was put on halt for 2 years and now we are back in action again after reading Art of K9Disc: Tugging for Retrieve, which explains everything you need to train a dog to enjoy the game of tugging. The most important point is, you must let the dog win the game!

Not sure whether is it due to my 'New-Toilet-Syndrome', I got pretty obsessed with they rope, until I kept jumping up at Ms Owner to grab it with my 'fang'. Then, I would voluntarily bring the rope back to tug for another tug. After every evening practise session, she will keep my toys near the window plate. The tennis ball never fails to be there, but I never attempt to steal it. The new tug toy laying there manage to tempt me to commit a crime, I leaped up and grab it from the window. Ms Owner was delighted to see me loving my new toy, hopefully I will love it as much when she bring it outdoor, then she can have a slight hope of weaning me away from being too dependent on food.

We got some tips from Surf Stormers Flyball Dogs on how to increase my accuracy in 'catching-ball-skill'. We can make use of the time at home to practise on catching, by throwing the ball at a lower arc gradually, until directly straight at my face, just like how the ball shoot out from the flyball box

Sorry to hear that your barkday celebration was low key. Maybe Ms Owner will give you a late birthday surprise.

We love rope tug toys. Hope you enjoy yours too, but not so much that you get in trouble for stealing it.

Happy barkday. You look great for your age! Too bad they didn't give you some cake. Not fair at all. Good tricks. Arrow takes my bowl into bed and licks it. He trained himself.

Hi Pacco
The rope toy looks pretty good even though it's not strictly new. We hardly ever celebrate our barkdays here. Our pinkies are evil too.

Oh Pacco, you're on the cover of a magazine! Glad you like your new tug toy. I've never fancied rope or any tug toys actually except when I was younger. Find it too tough, hehe! Hey, that's not fair that that cake was not for you after all, sheesh!

Love licks,

Happy Barkday, Pacco!

You're a dog after my own heart. I LOVE tugging! I, too, am a bit confused by the expert's opinions on letting the dog win, so I compromise. I win one, then I let Mom win the next one. Everyone is happy in the end.

Pacco! we love your tug rope! Well I (Crikit) want your t-ball but Ginger & Sparky would love to play tug and chase with your rope.

Hmmm looks like your owner put them on the window seal so you would get in some jumps since your so good at it.

Love the Mag cover and since the cake wasn't fur you we wouldn't have looked at it either. What a nice looking seat behind you is it comfortable?

Love licks & waggin Tx tails
